Pediatric & Preventive Dentistry

Children’s teeth need care that differs from adult dentistry. Baby teeth are not simply temporary: they help your child chew, speak clearly and hold space for the adult teeth to come. Pediatric dentistry at Smile Clinic follows the growth of your child’s mouth and teeth from early childhood through to the teenage years, with a strong focus on prevention and on spotting problems early, before they have a chance to develop.

A first dental visit is generally recommended when the first tooth appears, or before your child’s first birthday. Book a check-up if you notice white or brown spots on the teeth, your child complains of pain or sensitivity when eating, the gums look swollen, thumb-sucking or dummy use continues beyond the toddler years, or baby teeth are slow to fall out or adult teeth come through out of place.

We work hard to make the first visit a positive experience. We start by getting to know your child and explaining our tools in simple, age-appropriate words, then gently examine the teeth, check how they are developing and share practical advice with parents on brushing and diet. Preventive care includes fluoride varnish and fissure sealants, and any treatment needed is carried out gently and in stages where appropriate, so your child feels safe.

Parents play a key role in protecting their child’s smile: supervise brushing twice a day with an age-appropriate toothpaste, limit sugary snacks and drinks, and keep up with check-ups roughly every six months. At Smile Clinic, your children are welcomed by a patient team experienced in caring for young patients, in a friendly setting with modern equipment, at our clinic in Damascus.

Questions about this service

We recommend the first visit when the first tooth appears or before your child’s first birthday. An early visit helps spot any problems at the outset, shows parents how to care for their child’s teeth, and lets the child get used to the clinic in a relaxed way.
